Car Value Preservation Rate in June is out!

On July 1, China Automobile Dealers Association released the June 2025 China Automobile Value Preservation Rate Research Report. Let's take a look at the three-year Value Preservation Rate at all levels, the report shows that the three-year Value Preservation Rateat all levels declined in June.

Specifically, the highest three-year retention rate is still the MPV class at 57.6%, but it slipped 1.5% YoY from May. In addition, small cars, compact cars, medium-sized cars, medium and large cars, small SUVs, compact SUVs, medium-sized SUVs, and medium and large SUVs all saw a decline in value retention, down 0.6%, 0.2%, 1.0%, 2.2%, 0.5%, 1.1%, 1.5%, 1.5%, and 0.8%, respectively. The report pointed out that the decline in Value Preservation Rate at all levels in June was related to new car price reductions, and the used market was difficult to escape the influence of new cars. In terms of the year-on-year decline, mid-size and large cars fell more significantly in June, slipping from a three-yea Value Preservation Rate of 56.2% to 54.0%.

Then look at the three-year Value Preservation Rate of each country's individual brands, in the luxury brand retention rate, June ranked the top three brands were Porsche, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, the top three rankings with the same as in May, but the ring has declined, respectively, down 0.9%, 0.8%, 0.7%, retention rate of 67.9%, 59.7%, 58.5%, respectively. Lexus has now decided to go domestic. On June 27, the launch ceremony for the construction of Lexus' new energy project base was held in Jinshan District, Shanghai, meaning that Lexus' wholly-owned Shanghai plant has officially entered the construction phase. As planned, Lexus will develop Lexus-branded pure electric models in Shanghai, with production scheduled to begin in 2027.

The top five brands also include Land Rover and BMW, with Value Preservation Rate  of 54.1% and 52.8%, down 2.6% and 1.5% respectively. In addition, Audi, Lincoln, Tesla, Cadillac, Volvo, Jaguar Value Preservation Rate also appeared to decline, respectively, 1.6%, 0.7%, 1.9%, 0.7%, 1.0%, 0.7%, while the Infiniti  Value Preservation Rate  with May to remain consistent, still 38.9%. Simply put, in addition to Infiniti  Value Preservation Rate in June luxury brands remain unchanged, the rest of the brands have declined year-on-year.

Joint venture brands, June list of the top two Japanese brands Honda and Toyota,  Value Preservation Rate of 56.8%, but the two ring compared to 57.7% in May are down 0.8%. Mazda, also a Japanese brand, ranked fourth, with a Value Preservation Rate of 51.7%, down 0.5% from the previous month; Nissan and Mitsubishi ranked eighth and fourteenth on the list, with Value Preservation Rate of 49.2% and 44.9%, respectively, with the former up 0.1% from the previous month and the latter down 1.6% from the previous month.

As for other departments, Volkswagen and Kia are in the top five on the list, with a Value Preservation Rateof 52.2% and 51.4% respectively, of which Volkswagen slipped by 0.5% from the previous year. In addition to the top five, Ford, Jeep, Hyundai, Buick, Chevrolet five brands also showed a downward trend, while Skoda, Citroen, Peugeot three brands have increased.

As for the independent brands, theValue Preservation Rate of Chuanqi increased by 2.0% YoY to 55.6% in June, which is a more significant drop, but still in the top position. Following Chuanqi are Tank, Link, Chang'an and Geely, withValue Preservation Rate of 55.4%, 54.3%, 53.2% and 52.7% respectively, of which Chang'an'sValue Preservation Rate increased by 0.3% q-o-q, while the other three brands declined. In addition, those with YoY declines include Haval, Chery, Rongwei, Ideal Auto, MG, Red Flag, Azera, and BYD. Auchan's Value Preservation Rate remained unchanged in June, still at 44.5%, while Wuling's Value Preservation Rate increased YoY, up 0.6% to 44.6%.

Finally, let's take a look at the new energy vehicle segment. Divided by power type, the three-year model Value Preservation Rate for plug-in hybrid models was 44.0% in June, down 2.1% from 46.1% in May; the retention rate for purely electric models was 43.1%, down 1.1% from 44.2% in May.

Specific models, in the plug-in hybrid list, the top three plug-in hybrid models in the one-year warranty rate were Tank 700 new energy, Cayenne E-Hybrid, Ask M9, the warranty rate of 82.3%, 81.8%, 80.8%; three-year warranty rate of the top three models were Cayenne E-Hybrid, Panamera E- Hybrid, Panamera E-Hybrid and Ideal L9, with value retention rates of 60.5%, 59.4% and 55.3% respectively. In the pure electric car list, the top three pure electric models in the one-year value preservation rate were Xiaomi SU7, Ask M9, Model X, with value preservation rates of 88.0%, 79.5% and 78.6% respectively; the top three models in the three-year value preservation rate were TayCan, Model 3, Wuling Air ev, with value preservation rates of 56.0%, 54.0% and 52.3% respectively.
