Geely officially announced that the new car will be officially launched on August 15

Geely officially announced that the new car will be officially launched on August 15, with a predicted starting price of 49,900 RMB!

Introduction: What happens when childhood memories collide with urban travel?

Recently, it was announced through official Geely channels that the Panda Kart GG Bond Limited Edition will officially launch on August 15! This vehicle is quite interesting—it is the most “cute” member of Geely's micro-electric vehicle family, and this time it has donned the exclusive attire of China's top-tier animated character “GG Bond .”

And it’s a limited edition co-branded model (only 999 units available worldwide), so it’s rare right off the bat: it’s basically selling you nostalgia and transportation needs in one package.

Think about it: the folks who grew up watching GG Bond on TV are now at the age where they need a city car, so this is clearly going to spark a wave of nostalgia!

All it takes is a simple line like, “I'm so cool, driving this out will make your kid the brightest star in the entire kindergarten,” to win over countless young parents. Are your wallets ready?

1. Childhood memories: the most eye-catching car on the road

The GG Bond limited edition is based on the current Panda Kart, so there are almost no changes to the size and basic design. The focus is on the body paint design, which looks “unconventional” but is full of memories.

The body is adorned with an exclusive paint job officially referred to as “Lightning Red.” This color is not a simple single-layer paint job, but rather a two-layer process consisting of a base layer of metallic paint and a top layer of transparent coating. When exposed to sunlight, the texture becomes apparent.

So it's not what people say online, that it's just a simple car wrap or decal—you can think of it as an official “limited edition skin” (how could an official modification be the same as one done by a workshop?).

The real highlight is on the side of the car—a large GG Bond anime character decal that extends from the door all the way to the rear fender. There's also a clever detail on the B-pillar: a raised “pig nose” decoration.

These elements combine to make the car highly recognizable on the road. Don't even mention waiting at a red light—even stuck in evening rush hour traffic, you'll be the most eye-catching one, with a guaranteed high turn-around rate.

The most eye-catching part is the rear. The standard Panda Kart is already cute enough, but this limited edition adds a large spoiler, instantly elevating its style. While its power performance means the spoiler is more for decoration, it still delivers the desired effect.

2. What about the configuration and price?

The dimensions have already been mentioned: the familiar formula of 3,150 mm in length, 1,540 mm in width, 1,685 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,015 mm, with a standard two-door, four-seat layout.

Anyone who’s driven a microcar knows that these dimensions are a clear advantage when maneuvering through old neighborhoods or snagging a tight parking spot on the curb, yet they’re not so small that you can’t fit a child and a backpack inside—the size is just right.

The interior design carries over from the current Panda Kart model. The two-tone color scheme is fresh and lively, complementing the exterior's “Lightning Red” finish. The most striking feature in the center console is the combination of a 9.2-inch LCD instrument cluster and an 8-inch floating central touchscreen.

Don’t underestimate this configuration. At this price point, it offers wireless connectivity and remote vehicle control functions, which is already considered a “premium feature.”

The interior layout simplifies traditional physical buttons, relocating storage space to the hollowed-out area below the center console. Placing items like phones and tissues is very convenient, and such details significantly enhance the convenience of daily driving.

In terms of power, the GG Bond Limited Edition is expected to retain the current configuration: a 30-kilowatt permanent magnet synchronous motor with a peak torque of 110 Nm. While the numbers aren’t particularly impressive, when paired with a microcar weighing less than 1 ton, you’ll definitely not be the last one to accelerate off the line at city traffic lights.

The battery uses a 17.03 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack from Guoxuan High-Tech, with a CLTC range of 210 kilometers. If your daily commute is within 30 kilometers, you can basically get by with one charge per week. If you have a charging station at home or at work, the cost of using the car is lower than taking the subway.

3. What will the selling price be? Who will be willing to pay for a nostalgic mini car?

The key question is: how much? The current standard edition of the Panda Kart is priced at 46,900 yuan. Considering the limited edition's exclusive paint job, co-branded IP premium, and limited availability, the industry generally expects the pricing to be around 50,000 yuan. This price range falls right between the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV GAMEBOY Edition and the Changan Lumin Sweet Edition, creating a competitive overlap.

With mainstream pricing and specifications, plus the nostalgia factor of “ GG Bond ,” I think the official release of only 999 units is a bit conservative. Just the 90s generation who grew up with GG Bond  could snap it up instantly, let alone the younger urban office workers?

Of course, this might just be a test by Geely. If the market responds well, there could be more IP collaborations in the future, after all, this is an era of emotional consumption.
