Automotive core component manufacturer expands presence in central China with £200 million project in Wuhan
Recently, Ditong Industrial Holdings Group has formally signed a cooperation agreement with Wuhan Economic Development Zone, planning to establish an automotive components production and R&D base locally with a total investment of approximately 2 billion yuan. The project is situated within the Wuhan Economic Development Zone's Intelligent Connected and Electric Vehicle Industrial Park. It is positioned to serve the new energy vehicle and intelligent connected vehicle industrial chains, addressing the ongoing demand from vehicle manufacturers for enhanced system integration and component supply in the areas of electrification and intelligent technology. The base will adopt a ‘production first, construction later’ approach. Initially, production capacity will be rapidly introduced through leased factory premises. This will enable order fulfilment while simultaneously conducting process validation and establishing quality systems.
DITONG Industrial has long been deeply engaged in the automotive components sector, providing multiple types of core components and systematic solutions to vehicle manufacturers. Its client base encompasses leading domestic automotive manufacturers such as Geely Group, FAW Group, BYD, and BAIC Foton. The company has developed mature expertise in product consistency control, batch manufacturing stability, and cross-platform adaptability. Based on publicly available information, the newly established Wuhan facility will not only undertake production functions but will also concurrently develop R&D capabilities. This includes new product introduction and validation, manufacturing process optimisation, and collaborative development with vehicle platforms. The service cycle will extend from prototype and small-batch trial production through to large-scale delivery phases.
Relevant information indicates that the project completed its preparatory work for implementation within an exceptionally short timeframe following the signing of the agreement, taking only approximately 43 days from entering the industrial park to becoming ready for delivery. According to the plan, the base will commence land acquisition and construction in the first quarter of 2026, gradually developing into a modern manufacturing facility integrating research and development, trial production, and large-scale manufacturing. Upon reaching full production capacity, it is projected to achieve an annual output value of approximately 1.2 billion yuan, thereby substantially augmenting the regional automotive component supply capabilities.
In recent years, Wuhan Economic Development Zone has consistently prioritised the automotive and components sector as a key development focus. Centring on vehicle manufacturing, new energy powertrain systems, intelligent connectivity technologies, and critical component supply chains, it has promoted an industrial organisation model of ‘coordinated whole-vehicle and component development’. Through industrial park clustering, upstream-downstream collaboration, and open application scenarios, it has guided component manufacturers and vehicle producers to achieve R&D synergy, testing validation, and rapid iteration within the same geographical area. The establishment of the Ditong Industrial project is viewed as a crucial component in further refining the industrial chain structure and enhancing local supply capabilities within the automotive components sector in this region.
